GEBA News 2012

City Versus Country 2012

The 2012 CvC is almost upon us again for another year, teams will soon be finalised and we are looking stronger than ever before. A Grade has had a significant increase in playing talent to choose from as has B Grade, we have attracted a number of great players to our association who are hoping to represent us in the CvC and Queensland Cup later in the year. Add to this the quality of play from within the association has lifted quite a bit over the last 12 months, mostly because of the tables the committee aquired and the generous use the Gympie Pines has afforded us. We have in the past run a number of coaching days and will continue to offer them, these will be very important for the players fortunate enough to be selected to represent Gympie this year.

Remember if you are selected it is for a team, no football player has ever been selected and then told not to worry about training, just turn up. With position comes responsibility, you as a player would be expected to put in a 110% effort into bettering your game, nobody knows everything, and we can all learn from each other. Training days will be scattered over the next couple of months as my roster allows, I will try to work around everyone even if it has to be on a one on one basis. While waiting for the selections to be finalised and for dates to be released why don't you have a think of the top 3 things you really feel let you down so we can work on them together. Good luck everybody and hopefully we'll catch up soon.

Juniors

This year I am hoping to give the juniors some new and exciting programs to work with, I will be combining my drills and skills training programs along

with some DVD sessions, video analysis of all players to show the players where they are right and not so right. I am hoping to arrange a few friendly match days between other junior associations so our juniors can get a better idea of their progress. Vicki Gentry will be assisting me this year in my absense as I still work away, but I am sure the program outlines I have in mind will benefit everybody greatly. I am looking to implement education and behaviour performance based training as well, meaning that if the students are not pulling their weight they risk been dropped from the program to avoid taking other players valuable time away from them. These sessions will also become a competition throughout the season so the players have a goal to focus on the end of season reward for the winner (yet to be decided)

Parents and carers are more than welcome to sit in on any sessions so you can see your charge learn the very positive side of this wonderful game, you are welcome to ask questions and if you have any concerns or if your child has any special needs please feel free to discuss them with me so we can address any requirements early on. I look forward to meeting new students and catching up with our current crop of juniors through the season.

Best regards
